Our Offerings

At Minn-Tech, we provide professional repair services, primarily to the 1st Generation Apple HomePods (A1639) that seem to have a relatively high rate of malfunction. We specialize on the diagnostics of the root causes, and have professional technicians with experience to repair most common causes of failure.

"No-Power" Mail-in repair Service

If your Apple HomePod 1st Gen (Model: A1639, MPN: MQHV2LL/A or MQHW2LL/A) shows symptoms of “No-Power”, i.e. completely unresponsive when plugged in to a power outlet, this service is for you. This symptom is often caused by a shorted-out Schottky barrier diode on the amplifier board. To remedy the problem, the faulty diode is desoldered, and a brand new diode from a good known production batch is soldered back on to the amplifier board. In addition, we bolster the padding between the subwoofer and the support frame as well as the woofer and the top ring to stem any potential rattles that may be caused due to aging rubber grommets that anchor the woofer to the frame. We use a self-adhesive 3M foam for this additional padding, which is offered to you, our valued customer, free of charge.

"Loud-Pop" (or "Death-Fart" 🙂 Mail-in repair Service

Order this service if your Apple HomePod 1st Gen (Model: A1639, MPN: MQHV2LL/A or MQHW2LL/A) is occasionally making popping sounds, or making a very loud pop (or “fart”) and reboots afterwards.

This symptom is usually caused by a series of four failing capacitors on the amplifier board. To remedy the problem, these capacitors need to be replaced.
